Mathematics in the lower primary years is not just about getting the right answer — it is about building the mental models and habits of thinking that allow a student to tackle any question confidently. Our programme prioritises depth over speed.
Students who understand why a method works — rather than simply memorising it — are far better equipped when topics get harder. We lay that groundwork in P1 to P3 so Upper Primary challenges are genuinely manageable.
What We Cover
Number Sense & Place Value
Students develop genuine intuition for numbers — understanding what quantities mean, how they relate, and how to work with them mentally before committing anything to paper.
The Four Operations
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are taught with understanding, not just procedure. Students learn why algorithms work so they can apply them flexibly.
Word Problems & Reasoning
From P1 onwards, mathematical reasoning is central. We teach students to read a problem carefully, identify what is being asked, and construct a logical path to the answer.
Fractions, Measurement & Shapes
Concepts are introduced with concrete understanding first — fractions as equal parts, measurement as comparison, shapes by their properties — before moving to abstract notation.
